Oklahoma State football: What they're saying about the Cowboys' 24-10 win over TCU

Oklahoman Published: October 19, 2013

Here is a look at what players and coaches were saying after Oklahoma State's 24-10 win over TCU:

OSU offensive coordinator Mike Yurcich on Clint Chelf's mentality as the backup quarterback: “I think he's been focused. I think he understands how important it is for him to concentrate on the game plan, and the reps that he does get in practice, to maximize those and to make the most out of those and to know that we can call him at any given time.”

OSU cornerback Justin Gilbert on TCU's defense: “I was thinking about that all night, just going out there and outplaying their defense. Jason Verrett, I knew he's a good corner he was going to make a lot of plays (Saturday). So I knew on my end, I had to make plays and outplay them. We did a pretty good job as a whole of outplaying their defense.”

OSU coach Mike Gundy on the Cowboy defense: “Our defense was tremendous. … There's a lot of talk about TCU's defense, and they deserve it, but I don't think anybody should discount our defense.”

TCU coach Gary Patterson on going for it on fourth down multiple times in the second half: “When you play at somebody else's place, you have to play to win. We hadn't been down there (in the red zone) very often, but when you get down there, you have to get more than three points.”
