Death brings

prison term

A Midwest City man was sentenced Friday to 30 years in prison for shooting a man to death in a Walmart parking lot in Del City. A jury convicted Michael Kenebrew, 20, of second-degree murder in the Dec. 29, 2009, death of James Tobias Colbert, 21. EDMOND

Police seek van driver

Two pedestrians hurt in a hit-and-run accident on the University of Central Oklahoma campus were in good condition Friday at an Oklahoma City hospital. Yessica Deleon, 18, and Bryana Gariza, 18, were injured about 8:30 p.m. Thursday on Ayers Street north of Chambers Library. A minivan was seen leaving the scene east on Second Street. Deer Creek eyes changes

Deer Creek School District officials are considering starting school one hour later one day per week, according to a letter sent to parents Friday. The late-start initiative could be implemented for the 2012-13 school year, Superintendent Sean McDaniel said. The idea is to give teachers additional time to address their workload, McDaniel said. The district will release a survey in the next few days on the Deer Creek website to get parents' input, McDaniel said.
