Firefighters receive grant
Oklahoma is one of five states sharing more than $28 million in Federal Emergency Management Agency preparedness grants this year. The funding is part of FEMA’s 2012 Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program. It was distributed to 180 fire departments, emergency medical service agencies and state training facilities for fire departments to help pay for equipment, vehicles, wellness and fitness programs, modifications to facilities, personal protective equipment, fire prevention projects, and the hiring, recruitment and retention of firefighters. The other Region 6 states receiving funds are Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico and Texas.
