Oklahoma State running back Desmond Roland was named the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week Monday after racking up 219 yards and four touchdowns on 26 carries in the Cowboys’ 58-27 win at Iowa State Saturday.
Roland, making his first career start, became OSU’s first 200-yard rusher since Kendall Hunter tallied 201 yards against Nebraska in 2010.
This is the seventh time this season an OSU player has earned a conference individual weekly award, joining linebacker Caleb Lavey (Mississippi State), quarterback J.W. Walsh (Texas-San Antonio), punt returner Josh Stewart (Lamar and TCU) linebacker Shaun Lewis (Kansas State) and kicker Ben Grogan (Kansas State).
