Although X-rays on Monday showed a fracture in Luke Del Rio's left (non-throwing) forearm, the Oklahoma State commit doesn't plan on missing any time.
Del Rio, of Valor Christian in Denver, suffered the break in a 22-21 loss to Bingham High in the Salt Lake City area. He verified on Twitter this week that he will be able to play with the injury, and managed to keep an eye on the bright side.
“On a better note, my growth plates are still open,” the 6-foot-2, 190-pound passer tweeted.
After opening against two challenging opponents, Valor (0-2) had this week off, and will return to action Friday against Heritage High School of Littleton, Colo.
For the season, Del Rio is 37-of-64 passing for 390 yards with one touchdown and one interception.
MANSFIELD SAFETY ON RADAR
The Cowboys already have a verbal commitment from one Mansfield, Texas, standout in 6-foot-7, 270-pound offensive lineman Zachary Crabtree, and they might be trying to land another one.
OSU has offered Mansfield safety Trevor Walker, according to Internet reports. Walker, 6-foot-1, 190 pounds, has a long, unique offer list that ranges from programs like Arkansas, Arizona, Tulsa and Kansas State to Duke and Harvard.
