An otherwise disappointing week for Waco defensive lineman Ben Hughes was highlighted by his verbal commitment to Oklahoma State on Thursday.

The 6-foot-2, 310-pound defensive tackle from University High of Waco suffered a knee injury last week and was relegated to the sidelines for Friday night's victory.

Hughes breaks a three-month commitment drought, bringing the Cowboys' total to 16 verbal commitments. Twelve of the 16 are from Texas, and the Cowboys still don't have an Oklahoma commitment in the 2013 class.

Hughes had a wide variety of offers, including Kansas State, Mississippi State, Tulsa, Indiana and Minnesota.
