Oklahoma State recruiting notebook: Wylie East's Marcell Ateman scores four times

The 6-foot-4, 185-pound Marcell Ateman had four touchdowns and 114 receiving yards on seven catches Friday night in Wylie (Texas) East's 46-38 win over Wylie High.

“I got to spend about 30 minutes with Coach Young in the defensive line room. He just showed me the scouting report and went through a few plays but you could tell he was in game mode,” Newell told

“Oklahoma State has always been in my top schools and any time I go down there I like it more and more.”

Newell has more than a dozen offers from the likes of Nebraska, Missouri and Kansas State, among others.


OSU quarterback commit Luke Del Rio's arm wasn't needed much in Valor Christian's 49-0 rout of Castle View (Colo.) Friday night.

Del Rio was 10-of-15 passing for 106 yards with three touchdowns and an interception, his first in five games.

For the season, Del Rio has completed 64.3 percent of his passes for 898 yards with eight touchdowns and two picks.
