Oklahoma State University student fatally hit by pickup in Alabama

— An Oklahoma State University student was struck and killed by a drunken driver in Alabama Friday morning.

Kasey Nicole Waychoff, 19, was in Gulf Shores, Ala., for spring break with a group of sorority sisters, said Baldwin County Coroner Stan Vinson. Waychoff, of Flower Mound, Texas, was crossing a street with a group of friends about 1:45 a.m. Friday when a pickup hit her and sped away, Vinson said.

Friends tried to resuscitate Waychoff while they waited for an ambulance, Vinson said. Waychoff was taken to South Baldwin Regional Medical Center in Foley, where she was pronounced dead at 2:26 a.m. Friday, Vinson said.

The pickup driver, Justin Ellis Lott, of Montgomery, Ala., was later arrested on a complaint of driving under the influence of alcohol, Gulf Shores police said. Lott, 29, was booked into the Gulf Shores jail.
