Oklahoma State's Fiesta Bowl hopes still alive

/> Weeden went 10 for 15 for 168 yards and two touchdowns after intermission. If Robinson is unavailable, Weeden presumably will start against the Sooners, and there are easier places to make your first career start than Bedlam in Norman.

The Cowboys’ losses to Houston and Texas earlier this season were forgivable sins, but losing to a team in shambles would have been unforgivable.

OSU would have been eliminated from BCS bowl consideration with a loss to the Buffaloes.

In order to be considered as an at-large BCS participant, a team must have at least nine wins and be ranked in the top 14 in the final BCS standings.

The Cowboys now have nine wins, but given their performance at home against at 16½-point underdog, their No. 12 ranking could slip come Sunday.

To remain alive for a Fiesta Bowl berth, the Cowboys must win in Norman and Texas must advance to the national championship game.

Even without Robinson, OSU still should have been able to handle the harmless Buffs, who came in ranked 94{+t}{+h} nationally in scoring offense and 86{+t}{+h} in scoring defense.

The Cowboys have managed to endure the significant losses of six starters this season, but struggled mightily to endure the loss of Robinson.

OSU took a hit opening week with the season-ending departures of linebacker Ori Lemon (knee surgery) and tight end Jamal Mosley (transfer).

Tailback Kendall Hunter (foot) went down in Week Two and missed five games. Wide receiver Josh Cooper (ankle) was lost the following week and has since returned.

All-American wide receiver Dez Bryant was suspended indefinitely, then definitely, for NCAA infractions. Offensive tackle Brady Bond (ankle) has missed the last three starts.

But the most decisive blow nearly came Thursday night.

"Glad this one’s over," Gundy said.
