Oklahoma teacher, 42, charged with multiple sex crimes involving female student

A charter school teacher accused of sexually assaulting a female student is facing more than two dozen criminal charges, court papers show.

Pascal Wayne Jones, 42, of Edmond, was charged Tuesday in Oklahoma County District Court with 10 counts of forcible oral sodomy, five counts of rape by instrumentation and 10 counts of indecent or lewd acts with a child younger than 16.

The girl, 14, told police in August she was molested by Jones while she attended Marcus Garvey Leadership Charter School in Oklahoma City, according to a probable cause affidavit.

It was unclear Tuesday whether Jones is employed by Marcus Garvey Leadership Charter School, where prosecutors allege the acts took place between November 2011 and March.

Marcus Garvey Principal Kevin McPherson did not return calls seeking comment.

A spokeswoman for Oklahoma City Public Schools could not confirm whether Jones is employed by Marcus Garvey because the school district does not have access to the charter school's employment records.

Charter schools, an alternative to public schools, receive funding from the district, but do not follow the same rules and regulations as public schools, the spokeswoman said.
