Richard C. Brown II loved coaching his children in baseball and football. A huge sports fan, he enjoyed going to watch parties for games played by the University of Oklahoma Sooners and the New York Yankees.

His obituary details how much the 1990 Moore High School graduate loved his family.

Brown, 41, married his wife, Melissa, in Jamaica in 2002.

He also is survived by his son, Ricky Brown; stepson, Tyler Knight; stepdaughter Calissa Knight; parents Richard Brown and Marion Brown James; and his closest friend, Kyle Davis.

Brown's death is one of 24 linked to the tornado that ripped through Newcastle, south Oklahoma City and Moore on May 20, according to the state medical examiner's office.

That afternoon he was driving his pickup northbound on the H.E. Bailey Turnpike in Newcastle south of the Canadian River about an hour after the tornado had passed through, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. Traffic was backed up, and two tractor-trailers were parked on the shoulder of the turnpike at mile marker 107.

Brown struck the tractor-trailers and was ejected, troopers said.

He was taken to a Norman hospital, where he died.
