Pamela Lorson answered a call from her daughter with tears streaming down her face at Will Rogers World Airport on Thursday afternoon.

Lorson’s flight to Colorado was canceled, and with it her Christmas plans.

Lorson was planning to visit her two daughters and five grandchildren in Colorado Springs, Colo. It would have been the first time they were all together in a year, and Lorson had done extra duties at work to make sure she would get time off for the holidays.

She was devastated to learn the next flight she could get wasn’t until five days later, which was too late.

"I don’t know what I’m going to do,” Lorson said. "... I don’t want to be by myself on Christmas.”

Hundreds of travelers had to revise their holiday plans when weather forced Oklahoma City-area airports to close and airlines to cancel flights Thursday.

Many travelers could not get other flights until several days later. Those who were able to get flights today wondered whether those flights would be delayed or canceled, too.

A line of about 50 people stretched from the Continental Airlines ticket counter to the security checkpoint at one point Thursday afternoon after an announcer informed travelers that all Continental flights were canceled.

Aukai Dennis wasn’t sure what he would do. Dennis was trying to visit family, including a newborn nephew, in Hawaii for the holidays while he is on leave from Vance Air Force Base. Oklahoma closings know it: Winter Survival
