An estimated 12 million illegal immigrants live in the United States, equal to about 4 percent of the nation's population. As their numbers grow, so do the questions and concerns surrounding U.S. immigration policy. What do you do with 12 million undocumented people? How do you measure their impact, good or bad? And what happens to the children of illegal immigrants who are born in this country? Obtaining the American Dream has become complicated, expensive and, for some, impossible. While the questions continue to fester in Congress, Oklahoma and other states have sought to address the problem by enacting tough laws that have driven many illegal immigrants underground.
