Oklahoma woman convicted of son's death loses appeal

Published: May 2, 2012

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — A federal appeals court has rejected an appeal by an Oklahoma woman sentenced to life in prison after being convicted in the death of her young son.

The 10th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals handed down the decision Wednesday in the case of 26-year-old Stephanie Deann Davis of Midwest City.

In 2008, an Oklahoma County jury convicted Davis of first-degree murder and child neglect in the death of her 2-month-old son, Leandro Videz. She was sentenced to life in prison without parole.

The infant was taken to a Midwest City hospital on April 10, 2006, after he had stopped breathing. The child died 10 days later after being removed from life support.

Davis' 41-year-old live-in boyfriend, Moses Eduardo Videz, was convicted of child neglect but acquitted of the murder charge. has disabled the comments for this article.
