NORMAN — The No. 11-ranked Oklahoma women's basketball team powered past Wichita State 89-70 Sunday in a Preseason WNIT game at Lloyd Noble Center.
With the Shockers focusing on OU star Aaryn Ellenberg, Sharane Campbell stepped up to score a career-high 24 points.
The former Star Spencer standout also had six rebounds and went 9-of-9 from the free-throw line.
“I just do what I do best,” Spencer said. “They tell me to drive, so I drive. I get fouled and shoot free throws a lot. I love free throws.”
The Sooners struggled from beyond the arc, shooting just 27 percent, but hit 60 percent of their field goals and 27 of 31 free throws.
Morgan Hook added 15 points for the Sooners, and Nicole Griffin had a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
Ellenberg made three 3-pointers in the game's final 10 minutes to help quash a Wichita State comeback attempt. Ellenberg finished with 14 points despite scoring only three points in the first half.
Alex Harden led Wichita State with 24 points. Kelsey Jacobs added 15, and Jamillah Bonner had 10.
Oklahoma faces Gonzaga in a Preseason WNIT Semifinal at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Lloyd Noble Center.
