Oklahoma women's basketball: Sooners get another shot at Iowa State

After an embarrassing outing against the Cyclones last month, the Sooners are out for redemption.

A major factor in Oklahoma's rebounding struggles was senior forward — and leading rebounder — Joanna McFarland's foul trouble; she picked up her third early in the second half, and ended up playing only 25 minutes.

McFarland's importance is heightened against the Cyclones, who boast one of the better post tandems in the Big 12 with forwards Hallie Christofferson and Chelsea Poppens, and center Anna Prins.

Poppens, a senior, averages 12.4 points and 9.4 rebounds per game.

But Hook said Iowa State's most important asset is its structure.

“They're really fundamental,” Hook said. “It's not necessarily athletes beating us off the dribble ... they have the IQ, and it's just going out there and defending all their plays. They run hundreds of plays. It's just knowing their structure.”
