Oklahoma women's basketball: Sooners' Jasmine Hartman starts, shines on Senior Night, leads OU past Kansas

Hartman intercepted a Jayhawks’ pass, sprinted down the LloydNobleCenter court and scored the game’s first points on a fast-break layup.

Starting her first game of the season on Senior Night, Hartman scored a career-high 18 points, and the Sooners beat Kansas 85-77 to snap a two-game losing streak.

Hartman was one of four seniors honored after Saturday’s win, and one of two who was able to play against the Jayhawks. Forward Joanna McFarland scored 13 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in her final home game.

Injured seniors Whitney Hand and Lyndsey Cloman both wore jerseys and watched from the bench, as they’ve been forced to do for most of the season.

“These have been an amazing five years,” Hartman said during the postgame Senior Night ceremony.

“They were well worth it.”

Hartman started as a sophomore on Oklahoma’s 2009-10 Final Four team, but she’s spent most of her career in a reserve role, entering games as a defensive stopper.

Just before last season — which was supposed to be her senior year — Hartman tore her ACL and redshirted, which allowed her to return for one more season.

“We were thrilled when she made the decision to come back and rehab that knee,” OU coach Sherri Coale said during the Senior Night ceremony.
