Claire Liu, Norman North

Class: Freshman

Event: 50 freestyle

The story: The freshman was busy at state, taking third in the 50 freestyle at 24.83 seconds, and third in the 100 freestyle at 55.83. Liu also contributed to a pair of runner-up relay teams.

Avery Niemann, Heritage Hall

Class: Junior

Event: 100 freestyle, 200 freestyle

The story: One of the state’s best freestyle swimmers, Niemann’s 200 freestyle time of 1:54.09 was the best at the state meet, regardless of class. She won the 100 freestyle with a time of 53.21.

Swimmer of the Year

Madie Sarantakos, Norman North

Class: Sophomore

Event: 100 butterfly

The story: Earned gold medals in the 100 butterfly at 56.88 and the 200 freestyle at 1:56.16. She also swam two relays to help Norman North capture the team crown.

Tiffany Wu, Norman North

Class: Freshman

Event: 100 backstroke

The story: Took second in the 100 butterfly at 57.69 and third in the 100 backstroke at 1:00.37, along with helping two relay teams earn silver.

Ally Robertson, Edmond North

Class: Junior

Event: 100 breaststroke, 200 IM

The story: Last year’s All-City Swimmer of the Year added four gold medals to her collection, winning the 100 breaststroke (1:06.31) and the 200 IM (2:06.25), along with a pair of relay victories.

Jessi Hildebrand, Newcastle

Class: Senior

Event: 500 freestyle

The story: The Evansville (Ind.) University signee won the Class 5A 500 freestyle in 5:05.29 and the 100 butterfly in 58.17.
