PLAYER OF THE YEAR

TAYLOR HAWKINS, CARL ALBERT

Position: Catcher; Class: Senior

The story: Hawkins set school records in home runs in a season (28) and career (72) and drove in 81 runs this year in helping the Titans to the 5A state title. More than half of his 50 hits left the park.

GAVIN LAVALLEY, CARL ALBERT

Position: First baseman; Class: Sophomore

The story: LaValley had a breakout season, hitting .523 with 16 home runs, 53 RBIs and 16 doubles. He was also effective on the mound, going 6-0 with a save and a 2.65 ERA for the 5A champions.

COLT PICKENS, YUKON

Position: Second baseman; Class: Senior

The story: Pickens, an OU signee, hit .413 with a pair of home runs, 14 doubles and 37 RBIs as a senior. He also scored 46 times. Pickens was an integral part of the Millers' offense, helping them get back to the 6A state tournament and advance to the semifinals.

ALEX POLSTON, CARL ALBERT

Position: Shortstop; Class: Senior

The story: Polston set school records with 83 runs scored this season and 209 in his career for the 5A state champions. In his career, the Oklahoma State signee drove in 137 runs. Almost half (28) of his 59 hits went for extra bases.

JOE ROBINSON, EDMOND NORTH

Position: Third baseman; Class: Senior

The story: Robinson, who also played short, hit .413 with 42 RBIs for the 6A state champions. He was also one of the top defensive infielders in the state, committing only four errors and coming up with big plays throughout the state tournament.
