Oklahoman sports department wins APSE awards

The Oklahoman won multiple top-10 section awards. Writers Jenni Carlson and Jason Kersey were also honored for their work.

Judges from The Associated Press Sports Editors recognized the work of The Oklahoman this week, honoring the sports staff with three national top-10 finishes for work done in 2012.

The Oklahoman won top-10 section awards in the 75,001-175,000 circulation division for Sunday and daily sections and was also named to the top 10 in the Class A website division.

The Oklahoman won an honorable mention distinction for its special section work in the 75,001-175,000 circulation category.

In addition to the section awards, Jenni Carlson earned a top-10 finish for columnists and Jason Kersey earned a top-10 finish for feature writing.

The APSE awards are voted on by sports editors from across the nation.
