“As a storyteller and a writer, one of the things I do is try to create mental images using words.” Rodgers said. “But to actually see someone else take those words and create images and have that interplay was just a unique and fun experience.”
In the awards as a whole, the most-nominated book of 2011 is “Return of the Dapper Men,” a fantasy hardcover from Archaia by writer Jim McCann and artist Janet Lee.
DC Comics led all publishers with 14 nominations; Fantagraphics and Drawn & Quarterly followed with 11 each.
Ballots will go out in mid-April to voters, which include comic-book creators, editors, publishers and retailers.
The results will be announced July 22 at Comic-Con International in San Diego.
The Eisner Awards are named for Will Eisner, creator of “The Spirit.”
