An Oklahoman’s graphic novel is now available for digital sale.
The Bargain, written by Kara Barrett, is described as follows:
With only hours left to break a pact for his soul, Jackson Connolly attempts one final, desperate gamble at salvation. It’s a journey that will take him from the backwoods of ghostly Louisiana to the seductive lights of a 1950s New Orleans burlesque club. Adventure and moody noir fuse in this supernatural tale of ghosts, hellhounds and hoodoo magic.
I talked to Barrett in a brief Q&A about the graphic novel below:
NERDAGE: Tell me about your feelings on having the Bargain available on comiXology.
K. BARRETT: I’m very excited to see the book made available via the Amazon/Comixology platform. This is the most popular digital comic book distribution platform in the world and I hope my book will find its way to new readers.
NERDAGE: Describe the project for those unfamiliar.
K. BARRETT: The Bargain is a supernatural, noir adventure story set in 1950s Louisiana. It’s about a man named Jackson Connolly who has sold his soul and is trying desperately to win it back. It’s moody tale filled with hellhounds, hoodoo and ghosts.
NERDAGE: Tell me about your collaborators.
K. BARRETT: J.C. Grande illustrated the book and Kirsten Thompson helped edit the script. I’m the writer and I also did most of the production and lettering and editing for the final book.
NERDAGE: What other projectsare you working on?
K. BARRETT: I’m currently collaborating with a company called Trusted Cape in Texas to produce a new graphic novel. I’m about to go through the revision process on my script. It’s a high action, supernatural themed book with a strong western bent.
I also have plans to begin the sequel for The Bargain this summer along with a few other projects.
NERDAGE: Anything else you want to tell me about?
K. BARRETT: I’ll be at OAFCon this fall and my plan is to also attend the Tulsa Comic Con. These will be the very first shows I’ve ever had a presence at, so be sure and stop by and pick up your signed copies of The Bargain.
I may also be returning to my indie series, The End Is Totally nigh later this year for another issue.
