P Tommy Hanson (Tulsa born): Off to a solid start (30 IP, 3-2, 3.00 ERA, 28 strikeouts in April) for a Braves team that's off to a good start in the NL East.
CHICAGO WHITE SOX
Manager Robin Ventura (OSU): In his debut season, the White Sox are slightly under .500. That's contention in the AL Central, a division that lacks a team off to a blazing start.
P Josh Johnson (Jenks): Struggled in April (0-3 with a 5.34 ERA). Opponents hit .350 off the right-hander the first month.
1B/3B Greg Dobbs (OU): Hitting .250 with 3 RBIs in a reserve role.
LOS ANGELES DODGERS
OF Matt Kemp (Midwest City): The National League MVP award that should have been his a year ago won't be up for debate if he builds off one of the best starts in MLB history (. 417, 12 homers, 25 RBIs in April).
P Jamey Wright (Westmoore): Pitching well (1-1, allowing only three hits in 10 IP) in a relief role for the Dodgers.
P Scott Baker (OSU): Out for the season following Tommy John elbow surgery. He hopes to be close to 100 percent for spring training next season.
P Nick Blackburn (Ada, Seminole Juco): Off to a rough start for the struggling Twins (0-3, 6.64 ERA).
Manager Ron Gardenhire (Okmulgee): Has led Minnesota to the playoffs six times, but this season might be a success if the Twins avoid having the AL's worst record. The Twins are that bad. The rotation is atrocious.
P Brett Anderson (Stillwater): Ten months removed from Tommy John surgery, Anderson is close to making his first rehab start, hoping to return to the Majors in late June.
SS Jason Bartlett (OU): Veteran shortstop off to a tough start (. 156 average, 6 runs, 4 RBIs) for beleaguered Padres, worst team in the NL.
P Jeff Suppan (OKC born) — Wily 37-year-old veteran was struggling in Triple-A (12.15 ERA) but threw five shutout innings in his Padres debut, a 5-0 win over Milwaukee.
2B Freddy Sanchez (OCU): Had a setback on a rehab stint for a shoulder injury that clouds his 2012 season.
OF Matt Holliday (Stillwater): Putting up solid stats (5 HRs, 18 RBIs) for a Cardinals team doing just fine without Albert Pujols.
OF Luke Scott (OSU): After missing much of last season with a shoulder injury, the lefty power hitter is among the league leaders in home runs (6) and RBIs (21) on a team with the AL's best record.
Manager John Farrell (OSU): The Jays are a solid team. While a long shot to reach the playoffs, it's not completely out of the question. Toronto has good pitching. The Jays, currently in front of the Yankees and Red Sox, might stay in the race for a wild-card berth.
1B Adam LaRoche (Seminole State): Hitting well (. 311, 4 HRs, 17 RBIs) for a Nationals team making some noise the first month of the season.
