Oklahomans in the NFL: Week 1
How players with Oklahoma ties fared during Week 1 of the NFL season:
CLEVELAND BROWNS
QB, Brandon Weeden (OSU, Edmond Santa Fe): A tough debut for Weeden, who completed just 12 of 35 passes for 118 yards during a 17-16 loss to Philadelphia. He did not throw for any touchdowns — and to make matters worse, he was intercepted four times. One ESPN Radio analyst said Weeden is failing to adjust to the speed of the pro game.
DALLAS COWBOYS
K, Dan Bailey (OSU): Bailey helped Dallas open the season with a 24-17 victory over the Super Bowl champion New York Giants. A national television audience watched as Bailey kicked a 33-yard field goal and three point-after-TD conversions.
WR, Dez Bryant (OSU): Dez showed up for the game on time — and caught four passes for 85 yards.
RB, DeMarco Murray (OU): Superb 2012 debut for Murray, who had 131 yards on 20 carries. Broke several tackles.
DETROIT LIONS
TE, Brandon Pettigrew (OSU): Five catches for 77 yards in a 27-23 victory over St. Louis.
HOUSTON TEXANS
DE, Antonio Smith (OSU, John Marshall): The 30-year-old started his fourth season with the Texans, getting one tackle and a half sack. Houston wallops Miami, 30-10.
JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS
WR, Justin Blackmon (OSU, Plainview): The rookie caught three balls for 24 yards during a 26-23 loss to Minnesota.
MINNESOTA VIKINGS
RB, Adrian Peterson (OU): A.D. is back. 17 carries for 84 yards. Had TD carries of 3 and 2 yards to help Vikings overcome 10-point deficit to beat Jags.
