These eight Oklahoma soldiers have died in Afghanistan in the past few weeks.

Army 2nd Lt. Jered W. Ewy, 33, Edmond. Died July 29.

Army Spc. Augustus J. Vicari, 22, Broken Arrow. Died July 29.

Army Staff Sgt. Kirk A. Owen, 37, Sapulpa. Died Aug. 2.

Quote: "He was an outstanding noncommissioned officer, dedicated to loyally serving his country and fellow soldiers. His loss is being felt across the state, and he will be greatly missed." — Maj. Gen. Myles Deering, Oklahoma's adjutant general

Army Sgt. Anthony Del Mar Peterson, 24, Chelsea. Died Aug. 4.

Army Spc. Jordan M. Morris, 23, Stillwater. Died Aug. 11.
