Oklahoma's pass rush tormented Nebraska QB known as T-Magic

OU recorded a season-high seven sacks, constantly harassing one of the nation's top rushing quarterbacks.

"What was good about it we were pretty consistent getting pressure all night," said defensive line coach Jackie Shipp. "Keeping him in the pocket was big and we got sacks when we really needed them. It was big because it changes their whole game plan when you put them in second- and third-and-long."

Because of seven sacks Martinez finished with minus-32 yards rushing. His longest run was six yards.

"Ronnell (Lewis), Frank Alexander and Pryce Macon all made big-time plays," said defensive ends coach Bobby Jack Wright. "It wasn't just sacking him and pressuring him but keeping him in the pocket and not letting him do what he does best."

Macon, a senior, led the Sooners with three sacks, matching his entire season output entering the game. Alexander recorded two sacks, Lewis one and Tony Jefferson one.

"Some of it was blitzes," said coach Bob Stoops. "Whether it was our coverage where we made him hold the ball or guys getting to him, we got a lot of pressure. That was a big factor."
