Okmulgee lands recycling center and 1,400 jobs

OKMULGEE — City officials in Okmulgee say a Florida-based waste recycling company will build a plant and bring about 1,400 jobs to the northeastern Oklahoma town.
Mayor Brian Priegel says Destin-based Waste Not Technologies will build an 800,000 square-foot office and manufacturing park on a 250-acre site. The mayor says construction is to begin by year's end and take about two years to complete.
The company plans to take solid waste that would otherwise go to landfills and turn into products such as shipping pallets and fiberboard for furniture and the construction industry.
Priegel says plans call for an initial eight-hour shift of 700 workers with an eventual expansion to three shifts and 1,400 workers.
Company officials did not immediately return phone calls for comment.

Apparently the plan requires railroad access -- which apparently means that waste from out of state will be shipped in.
The the reason for 230-250 acres becomes apparent -- storage area.
And just where does the unused material end up?
Great idea. None of them have been built yet. None of them will work without a massive stream of municipal waste.
