Omaha shuts out OKC RedHawks

The Omaha Storm Chasers broke a scoreless tie in the eighth inning and went on to a 2-0 win against the Oklahoma City RedHawks on Wednesday night at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.

Christian Colon drove in Omaha’s first run, and Carlos Peguero scored on a throwing error for all the offense the Storm Chasers would need.

Rudy Owens tossed a season-high 62/3 scoreless innings. He allowed four hits, no walks and struck out seven to tie a season high. Josh Zeid (2-2) was charged with the loss.

Omaha pitchers Clayton Mortensen, Casey Coleman (2-0), Wilking Rodriguez and Spencer Patton combined for the shutout

L.J. Hoes collected two hits in his first game with Oklahoma City.

The series continues at 7:05 p.m. Thursday night. Right-hander David Martinez (5-2, 4.07 ERA) will start for the RedHawks, opposed by Omaha lefty Ryan Verdugo (0-1, 27.00).
