The Heisman Trophy race is no different than any other election. Every candidate faces key primaries where success is vital.

Here's a look at some of those important dates:

•Saturday: After Florida had an off week and the rest of the Heisman candidates had big weeks, Tim Tebow needs to put up big numbers at Tennessee.

•Oct. 11: It will be Super Saturday in the Heisman chase. Sam Bradford and Oklahoma face Texas, Tebow and Florida square off against LSU, and Mark Sanchez and Southern Cal have their toughest conference test against Arizona State. These big games should separate the contenders from the pretenders.

•Oct. 18: Missouri's Chase Daniel has his big moment in the spotlight. Missouri goes to Texas, where the quarterback's Heisman hopes may largely be decided.

•Nov. 1: If Tebow wants to make a statement, this is the week.
