MIDWEST CITY — A Midwest City woman was in jail after a shooting Wednesday morning that left a man dead.
Dianna Elaine Sanders, 49, was arrested Wednesday on a murder complaint. Police say Sanders shot and killed Stephen Dollarhide, 54, who lived with her.
Sanders called police about 11:15 a.m. Wednesday from a 7-Eleven at NE 10 and Christine Drive and told police she had shot a man, Midwest City Police Chief Brandon Clabes said. Sanders asked for an ambulance to be sent to her home at 930 N Pine St.
When police arrived at the home, they found the front door ajar and Dollarhide lying dead on the floor, Clabes said.
Sanders was being held in the Midwest City Police Department jail awaiting transfer to Oklahoma County jail Wednesday afternoon.
Herman Nelson, Dollarhide's neighbor, said he'd lived next to the man for 20 years. Sanders and Dollarhide seemed to have a good relationship, Nelson said, and he never saw the two fighting.
Dollarhide didn't have children, Nelson said, but Sanders has a daughter.
Standing in his driveway Wednesday afternoon, Nelson said the neighborhood was generally quiet.
“We've never had anything like this before,” he said.
