ANTLERS — A motorcyclist died after being hit by a tractor-trailer Friday.
Cameron Lawrence, 47, of Sulphur Springs, Texas, was driving a motorcycle northbound on the Indian Nation Turnpike near the Antlers toll booth when he was struck from behind about 1:30 p.m., the Oklahoma Highway Patrol said. He was driven into the back of a sport utility vehicle that had stopped to pay a toll, the patrol said. The SUV was forced into a ditch, and the motorcycle was under the tractor-trailer when its fuel tank ignited. Lawrence died at the scene. He was not wearing a helmet. Truck driver Richard Sears, 70, of Waltersboro, S.C., was taken to Pushmataha Hospital with head and arm injuries, troopers said. The SUV driver was uninjured. The accident was under investigation Friday.
