One Final Post to Ensure Everyone Stays Mad at Me

I don’t know who Nancy K. Anderson is, but she has been very persistent in emailing The Oklahoman and city council members about her concerns about the MAPS 3 streetcar system.

Her latest email includes an update on the Atlanta streetcar system, which has sources to back it up. I am posting it, fully expecting the details and context will be debated in the comments to follow:

ATLANTA – One of Oklahoma City’s consultants, URS, Inc., has the design-build contract for the 2.6-mile streetcar line under construction in Atlanta.[1] Its contract started out at $52.2 million in March 2012 and was increased 13 percent in May 2013 to $59 million.[2] URS asked for a $9.9 million increase – 19 percent – but received $6.8 million.[3]

This is the same company whose representative has assured us the entire proposed Phase 1 line here – 4.5 miles – can be delivered for $94 million, which is substantially less than the consultants actually project.

The Atlanta project is almost two miles shorter than ours but has a larger total budget  –  $98,910,442.[4]

A presentation by URS Inc. on the Oklahoma City streetcar project from August can be viewed here:
