One man was injured Saturday in an officer-involved shooting in Cleveland County.

Norman police responded about 12:30 p.m. Saturday to a report of a suspicious person and vehicle on the 2500 block of 168 Avenue NE. When an officer arrived, a man in a Ford Mustang fled from the officer and a chase ensued, Norman police Capt. Tom Easley said.

The chase went on for about two miles and ended outside Norman police’s jurisdiction at 192nd Avenue NE and E Rock Creek Road, where the man crashed his car at a dead end, Easley said.

There, the man was shot at least once in the upper body. He was taken to OU Medical Center by paramedics. His injuries did not appear to be life threatening, Easley said.

Easley said two Norman officers and one Cleveland County deputy were involved in the shooting. None were injured.

The Cleveland County deputy did not fire a shot, Easley said.

Easley did not identify the officers or the man shot and said investigators are still piecing together what happened.

The officers have been placed on administrative leave while the Norman police investigate the shooting. has disabled the comments for this article.
