Freihofer Casting is planning an open call for extras for the upcoming feature film “Rudderless,” which will be filmed in Oklahoma City and Guthrie this spring.
The open call will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at Quail Springs Mall in Oklahoma City, 2501 W Memorial Road.
Directed by William H. Macy, the musical drama will star Macy, Billy Crudup, Anton Yelchin, Selena Gomez, Felicity Huffman and Laurence Fishburne. The film will be shot in the Oklahoma City and Guthrie area from April 20 through the end of May.
Oklahoma Casting Director Chris Freihofer said the film will need various extras throughout filming.
“We do not need babies or toddlers, but we would like to add anyone else to our pool of possibilities,” Freihofer said in a news release. “All types and ages are needed.”
Freihofer said the film is especially looking for hipsters, skaters, rock 'n' roll fans, clubbers, mall patrons, college students, teens and tweens, and adults and seniors of all types.
Most extras will only be needed for one day during filming, but others will work a few days or more.
“Rudderless” is a drama written by Oklahomans Casey Twenter and Jeff Robison. It tells the story of a grieving father in a downward spiral who stumbles across a box of his recently deceased son's demo tapes and lyrics. Shocked by the discovery of this unknown talent, he forms a band in the hope of finding some catharsis. Macy, known for his Oscar-nominated turn in “Fargo” as well as in the films “The Cooler,” “Seabiscuit” and “Wild Hogs” and on the current Showtime series “Shameless,” is making his directorial debut.
Freihofer Casting is a leading casting office in Oklahoma for film and national commercials.
Information collected at Saturday's open call will be added to the Freihofer Casting database for consideration in future projects. Chris Freihofer is the only Oklahoma casting director that is a member of the Casting Society of America.
