School starts for Mustang Broncos on Thursday, and high school students and their parents turned out for an open house this week to meet new teachers and find classrooms.

The open house on Monday was the first time many students have seen the inside of the new ninth-grade building.

Construction using funds from a $38 million bond measure approved in 2009 allowed freshmen to move from the old mid-high at 430 Forster Drive to a building on the high school campus at 801 S Snyder Drive.

The bond measure also funded renovations to the high school campus, including more office and classroom space and an enlarged cafeteria and media center that open up to a common area near the auditorium.
