Open Meeting Law for transparency, open government

I was fortunate to have been a 10-year member of the Oklahoma Ethics Commission. We were regularly exhorted by our executive director and legal counsel to strictly follow the requirements of the Oklahoma Open Meeting law. There were no late additions to the agenda, which had to be published several days before our meeting. The law isn't a list of suggestions, nor is it excusable to believe that you're following the law.

I applaud Oklahoma County District Attorney David Prater for his stand regarding the law and how following this law gives greater hope for transparency and open government.
