We can’t forget karaoke.

State legislators passed a resolution Monday naming the Flaming Lips song "Do You Realize??” the official state rock song. It’s a great song, and it’s a good choice.

But there are lots of other songs out there that deserve state-sanctioned approval. We already have a state song ("Oklahoma!”), country western song ("Faded Love”), waltz ("Oklahoma Wind”) and now we have a state rock song. There are plenty of open slots for good Oklahoma music. My suggestions:

State Karaoke Song: "Never Been to Spain” written by Hoyt Axton and performed by Three Dog Night. If you’ve ever been to a karaoke bar, you know nobody can resist singing along to the famous lines, "I’ve never been to Heaven.
