EDMOND — Orvis Risner Elementary School will mark its 50th anniversary with a celebration Saturday featuring food, entertainment and auctions.
The celebration is from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at 2801 S Rankin.
“We are one of the oldest elementary schools in Edmond; the community has simply grown up right around us,” Principal Shana Perry said. “Many of the leaders in this community are part of the alumni.
“We think it imperative to recognize the staying power of the school, showcase our current students and honor those who have had the opportunity to learn, lead and teach during the last 50 years.”
There will be a light buffet, student performances, silent and live auctions of professional and student art, and tours of the building.
Tickets are $10 per person and are available in the school's main office or at the door the night of the event. Doors will open at 6:45 p.m.
“We would like to use the funds that we raise to pay for increased technology for students and adding additional playground equipment,” Perry said. “Our goal is to make the event an annual fundraiser.”
