— Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation officials released the name of a man shot and killed by police Thursday.

Okmulgee officers killed James E. Stutchman, 28, after he tried to elude police, OSBI officials said.

About 2 a.m., an Okmulgee officer tried to make a traffic stop at Fourth and Woodlawn. Stutchman drove off in a sport utility vehicle, and other officers joined in the pursuit.

Stutchman got out of the SUV with a gun in the 1300 block of E First Street, the OSBI reported.

OSBI reported police shot and killed Stutchman, but exactly how many officers fired has not been determined. Stutchman died at the scene.

The OSBI did not release the names of the officers involved in the shooting.
