The most obvious sites are all off the table. The Oklahoma City RedHawks, Tulsa Drillers, Oral Roberts, OU and OSU ball fields are all unavailable.

They hoped to have the issue settled by now.

Usually, it is.

The sites for the state baseball championships are usually set far in advance.

This year, though, the sites for the Class 6A and 5A state tournaments might not be decided until just a few weeks before the event.

The problem, generally, isn't in finding a place to play the first two days of the tournament but where to play the championship game.

The most obvious sites are all off the table.

The Oklahoma City RedHawks and the Tulsa Drillers will both be at home May 11, when the title games are scheduled.

Oral Roberts, site of four of the last 10 6A and 5A title games, is hosting McNeese State that afternoon.

Oklahoma's L. Dale Mitchell Park is unavailable due to graduation ceremonies taking place on campus that weekend.

Oklahoma State's Allie P. Reynolds Stadium is similarly unavailable.

“I would like to say that we'll be able to say in the next month or so where we're going,” Mike Whaley of the Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association said. “We've looked around at quite a few places but a lot of them don't really fit.”

The OSSAA needs a venue that can handle the fans and parking that the state title game would bring. Location is also a factor as is the proximity of another sub-site needed to host at least the first day of the tournament.
