Perrish Cox danced a little jig. Jermiah Price pumped his fists. About half a dozen Cowboys leapt into the student section after singing the alma mater, but that’s what they always do after an Oklahoma State victory.
A 33-17 triumph against Missouri was no different.
And yet it was.
This was more than a win. This was a statement.
The Cowboys are Big 12 title contenders.
They have overcome a devastating loss to Houston, showing signs of the promise that so many saw in them before this wacky, wild season began. They have righted themselves, and they have done so without two of their biggest stars.
Now, OSU stands atop the South Division standings with Texas.
In two weeks, those two teams square off in Stillwater. It will be on Halloween, and while a game time has yet to be announced, it only seems fitting that the game would be at night.
A Halloween night showdown for the division title.
Next week’s game at Baylor, after all, should be a mere formality.
