Known as a gym rat, Beatty struggled to rest her injured knee over the summer, forcing her parents to put her on lockdown.

“They would barely let me go out of the house,” she said. “They were just so scared that I was going to just go shoot. They didn't want me re-hurting it; they wanted me to rest. Probably the hardest thing I've ever had to do was rest and not go to the gym.”

She admits she started shooting earlier than doctors intended, but she is completely healthy now.

Beatty also continues to count her blessings after a long and worrisome summer.

“Going into my senior year that's always been my biggest fear is tearing my ACL or hurting my knee,” she said. “But I can't take anything for granted, you know. You never know when you're going to get hurt or what's going to happen.”
