Shortly after, Marcus Smart, the Cowboys' sparkplug and the Big 12 Player of the Year, spoke about a new season starting Thursday. About seeding and the past not mattering.

Then he started putting up shots on the Gallagher-Iba Arena floor.

Still, Selection Sunday provided a special moment for these Cowboys that are leading the program's resurgence but have never experienced the NCAA Tournament.

“It was … it was …” Nash said. “I can't talk right now, because I've never seen that before.”

Added Smart: “It was amazing. Just to go out there with this group of guys that I love, and just to see our name pop up on the screen and to be there to experience that with these players and these guys, it was just an incredible feeling for us.”
