Pilgrim bounces back big
Cowboys forward Matt Pilgrim
was suspended for Wednesday’s loss at Texas due to a violation of team rules.
Back in the lineup against Kansas Saturday, Pilgrim did his best to make up for his transgression, scoring 18 points on 8-of-8 shooting and grabbing six rebounds. Pilgrim also harassed KU center Cole Aldrich.
"He was an animal,” teammate Obi Muonelo
said. "He was rebounding over the rim and catching dunks off the tip-in. He’s an incredible athlete. He can run. He’s strong. He can jump.
"Believe it or not, for a big guy he can put it on the floor a little bit when he is focused and ready. He was huge for us.”
Perhaps Pilgrim felt like he owed one to his teammates.
"I think he may have felt that way,” said Cowboys coach Travis Ford.
"I didn’t, because I told him I wasn’t mad at him. I was disappointed in him. Highly disappointed. But it didn’t make me think any less of him.
"I told him, ‘We are going to support you and we are in your corner, but you got your punishment.
