Oklahoma State basketball got good big-man news over the weekend with the commitment of Kentucky transfer Matt Pilgrim. That followed disappointing news that big man Karron Johnson did not qualify academically and will attend junior college in Missouri.

Sources also indicate that incoming signee Jarred Shaw, a 6-foot-10 big man out of Dallas Carter High School, will be eligible and enroll in summer classes this week.

Pilgrim sat out last season at Kentucky after transferring from Hampton after the 2007-08 season. At Hampton the 6-foot-8, 235-pound forward averaged 11 points and 5.3 rebounds as a freshman. When coach John Calipari took over the Kentucky program this spring, he opted not to renew Pilgrim’s scholarship. Pilgrim told other media sources that he’s hopeful he will win an NCAA appeal that will allow him to be eligible immediately this fall at OSU.
