OSU football: Cleveland Browns, Denver Broncos among teams on Brandon Weeden watch

The picture will become clearer as we get closer to the NFL Draft. Many free agent quarterbacks remain unsigned.

While the NFL world is infatuated with “Peyton Watch,” where Manning decides to sign will ultimately impact which franchise drafts Brandon Weeden. In alphabetical order, here are the top 4 landing spots for Weeden, keeping in mind that some of the top free-agent quarterbacks remain unsigned. This list included the Seattle Seahawks before they signed Matt Flynn on Sunday evening, and the picture will become clearer as we get closer to the draft.

Cleveland Browns

The Browns are looking for an upgrade over Colt McCoy and do not appear to be a serious contender to land Alex Smith. Cleveland has the fourth, 22nd and 37th overall picks. Would the Browns draft Justin Blackmon at No. 4 and then Weeden with one of those later picks in order to continue that lethal quarterback-receiver combination?

Denver Broncos

Obviously, the Broncos are one of three finalists to land Manning's services. But John Elway's visit to OSU's Pro Day is a sign that Denver is seriously interested in Weeden if Manning signs elsewhere. The Broncos hold the 25th and 57th overall picks.

Kansas City Chiefs

The Chiefs hold the No. 44 overall pick, which appears to fall in the likely range of where Weeden could get drafted. But they signed Brady Quinn Saturday night, and starter Matt Cassel should return from a hand injury in 2012.

Miami Dolphins

Miami lost out in the Peyton Manning sweepstakes and have the 42nd overall pick. But this seems like an ideal team for Ryan Tannehill, whose coach at Texas A&M, Mike Sherman, is now Miami's offensive coordinator. ESPN reported Sunday morning that Smith was also going to meet with the Dolphins.
