Oklahoma State backup cornerback Andrae May has torn an anterior cruciate ligament in his knee and will have surgery next week, according to his Twitter account.

May tweeted “Torn ACL, ain't that about a ___, time to work harder” Monday night and later posted a reply to a follower that he will have surgery sometime next week. It is unknown when or how the injury took place.

May, a rising senior in 2012, recorded 19 tackles and a fumble recovery last season. He is listed behind Brodrick Brown on the OSU spring depth chart.

The loss of May likely means increased playing time for junior Larry Stephens and redshirt freshmen Miketavius Jones and Jonovan Griffin in 2012.

The Cowboys are already without two members of the secondary this spring in cornerback Devin Hedgepeth (Achilles) and safety Deion Imade (knee). Both injuries were sustained last season.
