OSU Football: Fixing J.W. Walsh's arm

It’s long been believed that the thing holding J.W. Walsh back from being the Oklahoma State quarterback was his arm.

But he’s been working on it.

Even though we didn’t see much of it Saturday against Mississippi State — the Cowboys relied heavily on their running game — Walsh’s arm looked improved, and he told our Gina Mizell that he’s worked throughout the offseason to improve his footwork and his upper body posture. As she pointed out in this OSU Update, he would look at film and his arm would look one way on one throw and another way on the next throw.

He had no consistency.

He’s now working to get a consistent throwing motion — and that’s one of the reasons Walsh has become the Cowboys’ starting quarterback.
