OSU football gets commitment from Texas junior college linebacker Alex Elkins

Oklahoma State's football program picked up its 18 commitment for the recruiting class of 2011 from Blinn College (Texas) linebacker Alex Elkins.

STILLWATER — Oklahoma State is one step closer to finalizing its recruiting class.

Blinn College (Texas) linebacker Alex Elkins has committed to OSU according to GoPokes.com.

At 6-foot-4, 235-pounds, Elkins is a superb athlete with 4.55 speed who a 355-pound bench and 500-pound squat. A sophomore from Keller, Texas, Elkins didn't play football in high school but was noticed by the Blinn coaches during a one-day camp in 2009.

"He's only played 17 football and for him to get the attention and recruiting he's gotten says a lot," Blinn head coach Brad Franchione told the Web site. "The best football for him is in front of him.

"He's learning the game and as he learns the game, he's going to continue to play faster and faster."

The Cowboys have 18 known commitments for the Class of 2011.
