STILLWATER — With Signing Day 2010 behind us, it is the perfect time to look back and reflect on Oklahoma State’s football recruiting Class of 2009. There were some players who helped immediately, such as receiver Tracy Moore. There were others who showed playmaking potential during their redshirt seasons, such as receiver Michael Harrison. Here’s a look at the players from the Cowboys’ 2009 recruiting class after one year in the program. → QB Clint Chelf. The former Enid quarterback redshirted during his first year on campus. He will be given the opportunity to battle for the Cowboys’ starting quarterback position, but Chelf needs to elevate his game to beat out Brandon Weeden. →RB Jeremy Smith: His performance against Grambling State had Cowboys fans buzzing about his potential, but a shoulder injury knocked him out for the year. His superb potential remains, and his work ethic is excellent. →RB Dexter Pratt: A big back who showed some flashes during his redshirt season. Pratt still has plenty of work ahead of him with Kendall Hunter and Smith in the same crowded backfield. →FB David Paulsen: A solid contributor on special teams during his freshman year. Plays behind All-Big 12 fullback Bryant Ward. →WR Dameron Fooks: Came up with some key catches during his sophomore season but recently quit the team to focus on academics. →WR Charlie Moore: Redshirted in 2009. Showed promise as a receiver and has excellent size for the position. →WR Michael Harrison: Almost played his way out of a redshirt season on more than one occasion. Teammates spoke highly of Harrison’s ability in practice, and he should flourish with plenty of opportunities to catch the ball in new assistant Dana Holgorsen’s system. →WR Tracy Moore: Played his way out of a redshirt season with his exceptional body control and hands. He’s a solid and willing blocker who can help on special teams. →OL Levy Adcock: Contributed on special teams and could play a lot on the offensive line in 2010. →OL Michael Bowie: Played last season at Navarro Junior College (Texas). Could return to OSU after finishing at Navarro. →OL Parker Graham: Graham was one of OSU’s standouts on the scout team last fall. Has gone from 255 to 289 during his time on campus and could make an impact immediately this fall. →OL Anthony Morgan: Started one game against Houston. Provided depth along the offensive line a year ago and could battle to start this season. →OL Brandon Webb: Webb joined Graham as an offensive lineman who showed promise during his redshirt season. Expect him to make a impact early in his career. →DE Darius Hart: After contributing immediately on special teams, Hart came on at the end of the year and began to see action on defense. →DE Andrew Hudson: Another standout on the scout team, Hudson might become a regular in the Cowboys’ rotation along the defensive line. →DE Ryan Robinson: Did not enroll at OSU. →DT Anthony Rogers: Redshirted in 2009. Will need to elevate his game to contribute in 2010. →DT Horace Hubbard: The junior college transfer saw limited action in 2009, recording one tackle in three games. →LB LeRon Furr: Seems poised to help offset the loss of Andre Sexton, Patrick Lavine and Donald Booker. Furr showed plenty of potential while redshirting. →LB Jordan Barnes: Joined Furr as a player who showed he has the talent and ability to contribute as a redshirt freshman. →LB Colton Richardson: Did not enroll at OSU. →CB Andrae May: Was pulled out of a redshirt season late in the year due to injuries. Showed good potential. Has excellent size. Athleticism will be needed to solidify OSU’s defense as a sophomore. →CB Andrew McGee: Emerged as a solid No. 3 cornerback before injuring his neck against Oklahoma. His status for a return to the field remains unclear. →S Daytawion Lowe: Played his was out of a redshirt season and was a playmaker on special teams. Looks like a future leader and difference maker on defense. →S Joe Mitchell: Through no fault of his own, Mitchell got caught up in an academic scandal at his former high school and was forced to leave OSU right before the season. Has since returned to Stillwater and is enrolled in classes this semester.
